Hi Painters and Happy 2012
We have finally reached the long awaited 2012, a new beginning and the new energy that is available to all.
After many years of searching outside of myself for answers to life's big questions, to find out how to self-love, maintain good health and to live a positive and harmonious life, I have discovered that the answers are found within the inner-heart.
Looking outside of myself led to many teachers and gurus and yet I felt as if nothing touched the truth, and realised that I would have to "do it myself" but never knew where to start.
I have always enjoyed to paint and wondered if experimenting with using paint and paper would be a fun and loving way to heal my life.
To do this it would be necessary to first find the stillness within.
Having investigated and practiced many different techniques of meditation, found that most of them took me outside of myself.
Since discovering the "Gentle Breath Meditation" have not looked back
The Gentle Breath Meditation eases us into the stillness where we can experience love, harmony and joy.
Is it possible it could really be that simple?
Of course learning to breathe gently while doing a meditation is great, but it is not enough, learning to live gently was also necessary.
Imagine living gently, this would mean living a more conscious life, more aware of what is happening and what is not, what truth is and what is not. Gradually becoming more aware of your body and learning to respect the enormous intelligence that is held within the body and inner-heart.
Experiencing more stillness and gradually learning to listen, leads to feeling your inner-heart and moments of self-love.
Self-love begins first in the stillness and the stillness is first connected to by using the gentle breath. Without the stillness love can never be found.
Today in the classes we practise painting from this place.
We incorporate the gentle breath meditation prior to painting so that we can commence painting in the stillness and not use our mind but our inner-heart to paint.
We feel and paint and practice being consciously present.
The mind is always ready to ignore the inner-heart and the feeling that comes out of it.
Contractions arise when we ignore those feelings that are in our body rather than allowing the connection to be from the inner-heart to the mind.
Prior to going to our easel, we have a lesson and discuss the fact that, "everything is energy and therefore everything is because of energy" and that there are only two types of energy (divine energy and that which is not divine energy) and the difference between the soul and the spirit. And when we paint we gradually become more aware of how the energy that we are using affects us in relationship to how we paint.
Understanding this will help us to know why we find it so challenging to remain consciously present while we paint (and live)
Today we are practising painting to raise our level of awareness to re-member and re-discover what we innately know deep within, so we can live from our inner-heart in stillness, love, joy and harmony, little by little discovering who we truly are.
We no longer need to "look out there" to find that we are simply re-turning to who we know we truly are.
In the classes this year 2012 we will be focussing on developing our awareness, living and learning to self-love in gentleness.
Quote: The freedom of expressing who you truly are has a lot of wisdom.
The first wisdom is that it brings simplicity to life. Serge Benheyon.
Please keep your eye on the website for changes to times and dates and new painting weekend workshops.
Also, later this year, we will again hold a Process Painting Weekend Workshop at the "Killara Studio" on the beautiful property of renowned artist Pamela Moore in Bonnie Doon, near Mansfield.
I look forward to seeing you with a paintbrush in your hand and having fun.
With Love,
Cheryl

PROCESS PAINTING FOR CHILDREN
Do you remember when you were young, you could sit on the floor and draw or paint for hours on end, playing and inventing and not even knowing that you had to "get it right" or make it "look good"? You were not interested if anybody knew or even recognised what you were painting, you just assumed that they did. You were expressing yourself and exploring your world with freedom and spontaneity.
How quickly we lose this freedom. This process for children is aimed at inventing rather than achieving so that they can experience the freedom of spontaneous self-expression.
In a structured and ordered environment there are no rules, children are free to invent or reinvent as their images develop from the demands of their feelings. There are no boundaries or limits...anything is possible.
If you would like your children to rediscover the joy of playing and painting as a process of exploration and freedom without restictions or expectations, then you may like to speak to Angela Mellas from "Art 2 Heart" on 0421 283 586
Angela did the "Teacher Training for Children" with me a couple of years ago and is now a fun loving and very competent process painting teacher. She takes classes for children at the Brighton Recreational Centre. 93 Outer Cres. Brighton. 9592 3033
